Types of submission on Moodle:
In this guide we will show you how to submit work via Moodle in three ways: Moodle assignment, Turnitin and Panopto.
You might have more than one submission point, for example, a video submission using Panopto and a text-based submission using Turnitin.
The interface is slightly different for each type of submission area. Use the icons to the right identify your submission type and watch the videos below for guidance:
Is your file too large?
Moodle Assignment accepts a range of file types and is used for visual, audio and video work.
Turnitin is used for text-based assignments and accepts .doc and .pdf files. It includes a similarity report which checks for plagiarism.
Panopto is used for video submissions.

Turnitin submissions
This short video will show you how to submit your work to Turnitin:
Important: If you submit a PDF to Turnitin, it must be machine-readable (this means you can highlight and search for content) and it must contain a minimum of 20 words of text. If you don’t create your file in the correct way, both text and images can appear as an image, meaning the file is not machine-readable. If this happens, you will receive an error message when submitting to turnitin.
To avoid this, please save your PDF as ‘Best for electronic purposes and accessibility’ and NOT ‘Best for printing’, if you have the option. Alternatively, using Adobe, you can Scan and OCR your file to make it machine-readable. Please follow the instructions below:

This short video will show you how to submit your video files to a Panopto submission point.
